One Louisville Releases 2026 Legislative Outcomes Report
Louisville, Ky. (May 19, 2026) – Following the conclusion of the 2026 General Assembly, One Louisville released its annual Legislative Outcomes Report to highlight major wins from the legislative session and the legislators who made them possible.
The 2026 budget session delivered key strategic investments designed to strengthen Louisville’s ability to attract top talent and new businesses. The legislature invested in several key priority areas for the region including downtown revitalization, higher education, infrastructure, and community assets. These outcomes reflect collaboration with local and regional partners and will support city amenities and long-term competitiveness.
“As Louisville’s front door to economic development these wins will give us more resources to sell the region and expand our reach,” said Trevor Pawl, CEO of One Louisville. “There’s real momentum behind us, and I’m grateful for Mayor Greenberg’s leadership and for the strong partnership between local and state officials who took action on key priorities.”
“Louisville is the economic engine that powers the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and I appreciate the legislature working with us to invest more than $1 billion to help grow even more good-paying jobs here, revitalize our downtown, and make infrastructure improvements in every corner of our community,” said Mayor Craig Greenberg.
Top priorities that made it across the finish line include the creation of a statewide talent attraction grant program to strengthen local talent attraction and retention efforts, major childcare reforms that address affordability and quality, and updates to the state’s economic development incentives to expand access to the Historic Preservation Tax Credit for commercial development projects and modernize eligibility for Kentucky Business Investment (KBI) so more businesses can pursue growth in Kentucky.
Despite some big wins for the region, the legislature’s primary housing bill did not cross the finish line this session. This priority will be revisited in future sessions to improve housing development efficiency and affordability.
One Louisville’s Legislative Outcomes Report also recognizes this year’s 12 legislative champions, selected for their leadership and commitment to the business community’s top priorities in economic development, talent, workforce, and budget investments. The champions include:
- Senate President Robert Stivers
- Senior Majority Whip Mike Wilson

- Speaker of the House David Osborne
- House Majority Floor Leader Steven Rudy

.
“It is an honor to represent the Louisville business community in Frankfort and our team is excited we secured exciting wins and investment in the region during this year’s session,” said Shelby Somervell, Chief External Affairs Officer at One Louisville. “I’m confident our advocacy will continue shaping policies that fuel the city’s economy and community, while addressing the most pressing issues facing our region.”
